What Makes Maine Sea Scallops Special?

If you’re looking for a tasty seafood option(opens in a new tab) to elevate a special occasion, then our Maine sea scallops are a top pick. These medallion-shaped morsels are nutritious, versatile to cook with and stand out from scallops in other regions thanks to their distinctly sweet and briny flavor profile. They offer a delicious and delicate contrast of sweetness and saltiness and carry the essence of the pristine waters of Maine.

James Hook & Co.’s fresh Maine scallops range from cream and ivory to a subtle orange or even a greyish appearance, lending them a subtle elegance on their own or as part of pastas, chowders and other seafood dishes. Our scallops also entice the senses with a fresh scent that draws attention. Whether you’re grilling, baking or pan-searing them, correct preparation results in a tender, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

From corporate events to weddings(opens in a new tab) and appetizers to a full-blown seafood feast, our fresh Maine scallops offer versatility, making them suitable for a wide range of preparation methods. You can keep them simple with a pan-seared and lightly seasoned starter, be a bit extra by wrapping them in bacon(opens in a new tab) or double up the deliciousness by double-stuffing them.

These tender morsels are more than just tasty — they encourage culinary exploration and experimentation. On top of the opportunity to wow your friends and family at celebrations, Maine scallops also offer nutritional and health benefits:

  • They’re free from chemicals and additives.
  • They’re an excellent source of iron, phosphorus, potassium, Vitamin B12 and other essential minerals.
  • They’re high in protein and low in fats and calories.

Give it a try if nearby! Waited in line about 10 minutes to order and my food was ready within minutes. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. I can see this place getting busy in the summers. Their large lobster roll is full of meat and delicious. I like it best hot with butter!

Not too shabby The food was great, and the staff was friendly. This is not a sit down restaurant; it is more like a fast food establishment where you wait in line, pay first, and then pick up your food. They had steamers available, but they were only sold raw and were not available cooked. Corn on the cob was not on the menu. Since we had a group of six and placed a fairly large order, a staff member helped bring the food to our table. There is plenty of seating, including some tables inside an air conditioned shack. The restrooms are portable toilets. The location is convenient and close to the water, but it is not directly on the waterfront and does not offer water views. The prices are considered reasonable, although they are not cheaper than Quincy Market. However, the seating is definitely much better. Next time we’re in Boston, we’ll look for another lobster place that serves corn on the cob and cooked steamers.

Just Awesome Lobster Showed up here not knowing what to expect- would it live up the hype or be an expensive flop. The lobster rolls were legit and as good, if not better, than any I have had in coastal Maine.

The best lobster rolls This is one of the best seafood markets for sure. The place isn't fancy but the food is absolutely a bomb. The lobster roll looked simple but tasted delicious. I asked for just the butter to go with it and it was perfect. The crab roll was just equally good. They have limited seats inside but lots of seats outside. The price of the food is quite expensive but totally worth it. The service was quick. The staff were nice. The line was long but it moved quickly. Definitely worth another visit.
