New England Steamers (per 2 pound bag)

$29.98

IN STOCK

Five-star customer rating graphic

Steamers are sometimes known as long-necks. They have a sweet, lightly briny flavor and tender texture. Their shells are thinner than those of hard-shelled varieties, such as littleneck or cherrystone clams. They are easy to prepare and are a delicious appetizer for a fresh seafood dinner.

Sold in 2-lb bags at $14.99 per pound.

Please note: Steamer shells are naturally delicate and may crack during transit, even when carefully packed with insulated materials and bubble wrap. Cracked shells are expected from time to time and do not affect the quality or freshness of the shellfish, they are still perfectly safe to cook and enjoy. By purchasing steamers, you acknowledge that some cracked shells may occur in transit. Refunds or replacements are not provided for cracked shells.

Preparing New England Steamer Clams

Also known as soft-shell or long-neck clams, steamer clams are one of New England’s most popular foods. Careful preparation can help you appreciate their flavor and texture fully. Use the steps below to cook steamer clams:

  1. Soak the clams in seawater or non-iodized saltwater for 20 – 30 minutes. This step allows them to open fully.
  2. Steam the clams on a steamer rack over water, beer, wine, or stout. Keep an eye on them while steaming, as the clams are done once they open. Discard any clams that didn’t open.
  3. Place the clams on a plate or bowl for serving, then divide the broth in the pot into bowls (one for each person at the table).
  4. Serve the clams with the broth and a bowl of hot, melted butter for dipping.

This traditional way of eating New England steamer clams is a rich and rewarding experience, combining the best of the clams’ texture and natural sweetness with the rich flavor of butter.

Health Benefits of Eating Steamer Clams

Steamer clams are full of health benefits. Adding this delicious dish to your at-home menu means enjoying the following:

  • High nutritional value: New England steamer clams contain numerous minerals and vitamins, including Vitamin B12, iron, magnesium and selenium. As a result, they make for a great dietary choice to help you consume the necessary nutrients.
  • Balanced profile: Soft-shell clams, like most shellfish, offer high protein, which is valuable for muscle growth and cell repair. These shellfish are also low in calories and contain mainly healthy fats.
  • Amino acids: Because shellfish contain high amounts of amino acids, eating clams can support your immune system, bone health, brain health and more.

Our steamer clams are shipped overnight using Styrofoam insulated boxes and gel ice packs. Our family-owned business will work closely with you to guarantee you are satisfied. We even offer a quality and freshness guarantee.

Give it a try if nearby! Waited in line about 10 minutes to order and my food was ready within minutes. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. I can see this place getting busy in the summers. Their large lobster roll is full of meat and delicious. I like it best hot with butter!

Not too shabby The food was great, and the staff was friendly. This is not a sit down restaurant; it is more like a fast food establishment where you wait in line, pay first, and then pick up your food. They had steamers available, but they were only sold raw and were not available cooked. Corn on the cob was not on the menu. Since we had a group of six and placed a fairly large order, a staff member helped bring the food to our table. There is plenty of seating, including some tables inside an air conditioned shack. The restrooms are portable toilets. The location is convenient and close to the water, but it is not directly on the waterfront and does not offer water views. The prices are considered reasonable, although they are not cheaper than Quincy Market. However, the seating is definitely much better. Next time we’re in Boston, we’ll look for another lobster place that serves corn on the cob and cooked steamers.

Just Awesome Lobster Showed up here not knowing what to expect- would it live up the hype or be an expensive flop. The lobster rolls were legit and as good, if not better, than any I have had in coastal Maine.

The best lobster rolls This is one of the best seafood markets for sure. The place isn't fancy but the food is absolutely a bomb. The lobster roll looked simple but tasted delicious. I asked for just the butter to go with it and it was perfect. The crab roll was just equally good. They have limited seats inside but lots of seats outside. The price of the food is quite expensive but totally worth it. The service was quick. The staff were nice. The line was long but it moved quickly. Definitely worth another visit.
